We have lived in Dresden for a long time. It allowed us to discover many interesting restaurants, which we would like to recommend you to visit during your stay, and so:
One of our favourite restaurants is the Spanish restaurant ‘El Espaniol’ at An Der Dreikonigskirche 7 (Neustadt), you won’t regret a visit here!
If you like Italian cuisine, we recommend ‘La Casina Rosa’, Alaunstr. 93 (a restaurant in the vicinity of our apartments). If you fancy a short walk, be sure to go to Königstrasse (also Neustadt). There you can eat well at ‘Ausonia’ (Italian cuisine) or ‘Acheron’ (Greek cuisine).
And when you’re visiting the Old Town, don’t forget about ‘Mamma Mia’, Kreuzstraße 1-3 (Italian cuisine), the specialty of which is real, fresh Italian pasta according to the secret ‘Mamma Mia’ recipe. The restaurant is also recommended ‘Enotria da Miri’, Kleine Brudergasse 1 (die traditionsreiche italienische Küche).
However, if you fancy traditional German cuisine accompanied with the most beautiful view of the Dresden skyline, we suggest you visit the ‘Luisenhof’ restaurant ( Bergbahnstraße 8 ). You will be delighted with the cuisine, atmosphere and the stunning view of the Blaues Wunder Bridge – one of the oldest suspension bridges in Europe.
If you like Asian cuisine, discover Dresden’s finest Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine at Phở Mum (Neustadt, Alaunstraße 51) and Mikado (Altstadt, Neumarkt 1). The menu offers a wide selection of delicacies prepared with the freshest and highest quality ingredients. At Phở Mum and Mikado, every palate finds its pleasure.
German young and creative cuisine in the Neustadt:
Restaurant ´lilla Soße´ is located opposite in the Kunsthofpassage, Alauenstraße 70 (open from 16:00-22:00). On the menu you will find delicious dishes, all of which have something to do with traditional German cuisine – and with a good dose of creativity!
The ‘Villandry’ is the best address in the Neustadt for gourmets, Jordanstraße 8 (Tue-Sat 18:00-00:00). The restaurant has a picturesque and quiet terrace area in the inner courtyard and the ambitious food is a delight for both the palate and the eyes. The small wine list is well selected so that even wine lovers will find the right accompaniment to the great food.
German restaurants in the old town:
Bavarian Restaurant ´Restaurant Augustiner an der Frauenkirche´, An der Frauenkirche 16-17
Restaurant ´Pulverturm´, An der Frauenkirche 12
COCKTAILBARS
‘Nook sips in a kitchen in the Neustadt’
Regional ingredients and spirits, presented in a modern way. The name is derived from ‘in every nook and cranny’, which refers to the cosy atmosphere in the bar. Drinks such as ‘cosy’ or ‘silken’ underline the concept. Added to this are the bar food specialities of Michelin-starred chef Konrad Lange, many of which are Asian-inspired. The highlight: a view into the open kitchen shows how the dishes are created, while cocktails are mixed right before your eyes at the bar.
Address: Bischofsweg 72
‘Felix im Lebendigen Haus’
“Felix im Lebendigen Haus” is located right in the old town, just a few steps away from the castle. Anyone who finds themselves in the centre in the evening will enjoy visiting this combination of club, bar and lounge to treat themselves to a delicious dinner and cool drinks. The absolute highlight is the roof terrace.
Address: Kleine Brüdergasse 1-5
‘Bar 1705’ in the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski
Innovative cocktail culture in a glamorous setting: that’s what Bar 1705 stands for. The name refers to the year the Taschenbergpalais was founded. The sophisticated design is reminiscent of the 1920s and is modelled on New York’s Oak Room. The impressive bar offers an exquisite selection of whiskies and spirits, and the carefully selected dishes perfectly complement the flavours of the drinks.
Address: Taschenberg 3
